Hudak Reads in Health Card Clinic Petition as First Order of Business in the Legislature

QUEEN’S PARK – Tim Hudak, MPP for Niagara West-Glanbrook, used his first opportunity to speak in the Legislature this term to advocate for Glanbrook area residents and for an increase in health services to their community.

One of Hudak’s top priorities for the new session is to bring in a mobile health card renewal clinic for Mount Hope and Binbrook residents who currently have to travel to downtown Hamilton to receive the service. With the help of several dedicated area residents, Hudak began circulating a petition in August that has garnered more than 1,000 signatures to date. Hudak’s first order of business was to read the petition in the Legislature on Monday and Tuesday.

“Taxes and fees have increased for Glanbrook residents in Dalton McGuinty’s Ontario, but health services certainly have not,” Hudak said following question period on Tuesday. “Introducing a mobile health card renewal clinic for Mount Hope and Binbrook residents would be a start to addressing the deficiency of health services in this area.”

Mobile health card renewal clinics are typically held once a month by appointment. Hudak, with the help of hundreds of Lincoln residents, successfully petitioned to have the Beamsville mobile health card renewal clinic re-instituted in 2006 after it was shut down by the McGuinty government.

For anyone interested in adding their name to the petition, they can still be found at various restaurants, convenience stores, banks and other locations around Glanbrook.
